| It’s rare in these times to find an artist who possesses the heart, skill, and dedication to their craft. Enter So Cal MC Loose Logic. Hailing from Orange County, CA., Loose Logic, a.k.a Ian Westbrook, has been on the local scene making music and a name for himself since he was a teen. Now, after a more than ten months in the studio, he’s putting the finishing touches on his debut album aptly titled Logistics, with features by Jay Rock (Warner Bros.), Grammy winner RBX and others. Rather than sticking to an industry formula, Logic’s raps are more about social and economic injustices along with his own personal struggles. His 2007 release, Before the Storm contains songs like “R.I.P,” a track dedicated to the memory of his grandfather, a man who Logic fished with and talked to everyday on the phone. On the upcoming album track “Cold Blooded,” Logic deftly raps about his love for a girlfriend, Crystal, that we learn was also a love for the drug Crystal Meth, an addiction that almost took his life at 21 years of age. And the local press has taken notice of Logic. The rapper has graced the cover of Orange County’s What’s Up magazine, and has been featured in the Orange County Register, OC Weekly, Huntington Beach Gazette, Skinnie magazine, and more, including being named a “Top 100 Unsigned Artist” for 2007 by Music Connection magazine, where he is featured in the January 2010 issue. What’s more, the E.P. Before the Storm was nominated best “Hip-Hop of the Year” at the 2008 L.A. Music Awards. And that’s just the beginning: Logic won “Best Hip-Hop Artist of The Year” at the 2007 All Access Magazine Music Awards as well as “Best Urban (Rap) Artist of the Year” at the 2007 Orange County Music Awards. And with the upcoming release of Logistics, Loose Logic will receive the national recognition he and his music deserve! Logic has performed onstage with national recording acts Mos Def, Too Short, DMX, Pitbull, KRS-1, DJ Quick, Ying-Yang Twins, Strong Arm Steady, and Evidence, as well as numerous others. The new album Logistics drops April 6, 2010. |
